This full/queen platform bed with its rich dark Chocolate finish has a timeless look and blends easily in any decor. It provides storage with two large drawers, one on each side, without handles. Drawers have full extension metal glides for easy access. This bed fits full or queen size mattress and box spring is not required. When used with a full matress, a fringe of the Chocolate finished top surface will be visible on each side and at the foot of the mattress. This bed is made of recycled CARB compliant particle pannels. It has to be assembled by two adults. Measures 62 inches wide by 81 inches deep by 9 inches high. I got mine (from someone other than Amazon) and tried to lift it up the stairs to my apartment with one friend. Clearly labeled on the box was the weight, a mere 276 lbs. I got it upstairs, and put the bed together. To be honest, it looked great, at first and I was very happy. However, the bed is held together mainly by screws and "plastic dowels." Over time however, the screws all loosened, which caused the bed to creak and shift. Since this is made out of particleboard, there is no strong fibers to hold the screws in place. My aggravation with this reached a highpoint when one of the supporting boards located under the platform flipped on its side, causing the center of the bed to sag a good 1"-2" down. I needed to unscrew the entire top of the platform to get to the board, flip it up, and add more screws. Overtime, movement just pulls the screws (and little bits of lovely wood... This review is from: South Shore Step One Collection Full/Queen 54/60-Inch Storage Platform Bed, Natural Maple (Kitchen) I ordered this for a full size because the description says for a full or queen. However upon inspection there is no difference in assembly for the 2 size beds, instead the full bed just has extra wood extending past the edges of the mattress. I ended up modifying the design and cutting the wood down so it was flush with the mattress. The wood is all mdf and the drawer hardware was decent quality. Overall it did what it needed it after a few modifications. This review is from: South Shore Furniture, Step One Collection, Full/Queen Storage Platform Bed 54"/60" (Kitchen) I ordered this bed in the middle of the night just desperately needing a bed so I never looked at the reviews. If I had I would have never ordered it. I wanted real wood and this is almost all MDF. To me MDF isn't durable. I have had numerous items that were MDF and none of them lasted very long. And they were cheaper. Then when we are putting it together not all the pieces have the correct holes for the screws to go in. Overall I wouldn't recommend this to anybody.
